Read and Feed's mission is to strengthen literacy skills among underserved elementary school children and provide meals in a nurturing neighborhood environment.
Tutoring
Read and Feed partners with Wake County public elementary schools to identify children below reading level and provides 75-90 minutes weekly of high-impact literacy tutoring throughout both the academic year and summer.
Meals
At each program session, Read and Feed provides a nourishing meal and snack to students, serving over 20,000 meals and snacks annually to underserved students.
Books
Each week, children self-select three books to take home and use to build their home libraries. During the summer, Read and Feed operates large scale book distributions across Wake, Durham, Chatham, and Orange counties distributing over 14,000 books.
